We developed our maternal health card game, Learning Pamoja or "Learning Together," to provide a fun and effective educational program for expectant mothers. Learning Pamoja offers mothers critical, lifesaving information and instills in them the importance of seeking health care before, during, and after childbirth. It engages health care workers and mothers for an hour-long conversation that contains the most important information these women will receive as they prepare for birth and motherhood. This knowledge not only saves lives, it empowers mothers to make sustainable change in their families and communities.
By preparing mothers for pregnancy and childbirth, we're building an informed and prepared community for the future. In this way, we're developing better maternal and family health not just for today, but for years to come.
Thousands have already played our game, learning about the physical signs during pregnancy that require medical attention, proper personal hygiene for herself and her newborn, nutrition, the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, malaria prevention, water treatment, and the importance of prenatal care.
If you would like to sponsor a game’s production, distribution, and training for $55, simply designate your donation in the comments section of our donation page. You'll receive a certificate of sponsorship, and the health care center will receive a card game with your name. The card game will go to a facility where your generosity will not only save lives, but offer the knowledge necessary to change lives.
